The Five Fundamental Meditations to Cure the Five Poisons
This text is a chapter from the book “Buddhist Meditation: Systematic and Practical” by C. M. Chen. In this chapter, Chen discusses the five fundamental meditations to cure the five poisons. The five poisons are greed, hatred, delusion, pride, and envy. The five fundamental meditations are:
- Meditation on the impermanence of all things
- Meditation on the emptiness of all things
- Meditation on the dependent origination of all things
- Meditation on the compassion of all beings
- Meditation on the emptiness of self
The purpose of each meditation is to help one to overcome the five poisons. These meditations can be used to improve one’s life by helping one to develop a more peaceful and compassionate mind.
