Relaxation of Fields, Skin Depth
This article discusses the relaxation of electric fields and charge in conducting media.
The quasistatic assumption allows us to neglect the contribution of
∂B t to E , which simplifies the problem.
The three equations that govern the relaxation process are:
- The conservation-of-charge relation: ∇ ρ = 0
- Gauss’s law: ∇ • D = ρ
- Ohm’s law: J = σE
