Perspectives of the Stakeholders in IT Project
Stakeholders can exist in the project’s external environment. In this blog post, we will discuss the perspectives of two stakeholders who are not internal to the project but whose interests may be negatively or positively affected as a result of the project.
Stakeholder 1
The first stakeholder interviewed is the General Manager of the regional office of AIG Europe Milan, Italy. He is responsible for overseeing the operations of the regional office and also directing business strategy in line with the overall company strategy.
The General Manager mentioned that AIG Europe is moving towards small business and lower level markets. He agreed that the IT Platform would be one of the key strategies to support the parent strategy. He also highlighted that there are other initiatives such as the setting up of two new departments, headcount growth, and an accelerated growth plan by the parent organization.
Stakeholder 2
The second stakeholder interviewed is the head of the Financial Lines division who is also the superior of Project Manager 1. He is responsible for overseeing the smooth operations of the financial lines insurance division and developing business strategy of this business unit in line with overall company strategy.
The head of the Financial Lines division is one of the key Profit Centre Managers and is one of the main end-users of the IT Platform. He is chiefly responsible for the efficient delivery and expansion of the product which is the direct benefit of the project.
In conclusion, the two stakeholders interviewed in this blog post have different perspectives on the IT Platform. The General Manager is more detached from the actual workings of the project, but he acknowledges its importance. The head of the Financial Lines division is more directly involved in the project and is responsible for its success.
